Tandem paragliding flight at Golte, Dobrovlje, Logarska Valley and Krvavec airfields.
About me
I am Franek Rakun, and since I was a child, I dreamed of one day being among the clouds. Lying on the grass and watching the sky offered me a limitless view and an immense sense of freedom. With the development of paragliding in our country, the first paragliders began to land near our farm. The first contact with them and the view of their equipment left a great impact on me, and today, after completing the courses and obtaining the licenses, after 20 years of flying, this is my way of life. With 2200 hours in the air, I have flown over most of Slovenia and some neighbouring countries. Since free flying with a paraglider is incomparable to any other sport, I decided to share and present these feelings of flying, freedom, peace and silence in the air to everyone who wants it, and now all my time is reserved for tandem flights in summer flight season.
Services
A tandem flight is available from Golte, Dobrovelj, Logarska valley and Krvavca.
Description and preparations
You don’t need any special skills or fitness to fly in tandem as a passenger. All you need are hiking boots, long clothes, sunglasses and, of course, a desire for a completely new experience. The age limit also has a wide range and starts from 6 years of age to over 70+. When we agree and coordinate a suitable day with maximally good conditions for the flight, we meet at the location where we will later land with a parachute – i.e. at the landing. There you will be transported to the start, which lasts from 10-20 minutes (depending on the take-off point) and during the ride we get to know each other and solve various questions related to the flight in a relaxed way.
If you want to fly as a couple or with children, of course, we can call additional pilots and start one after the other, and we can fly only a few meters apart in the air, making the flight itself even more interesting.
After arriving at the start, it depends on the location, sometimes it is necessary to walk some more to the take-off (5-15 minutes). Next comes the preparation for the flight itself. The pilot equips you with a flight seat and a helmet and explains how the take-off is done and if desired, we do a practice run. Then we strap on the parachute, wait for good wind conditions and with a couple of quick steps or short runs (max. 10 meters) we get off the ground towards a wonderful adventure.
The often-asked question “What if I didn’t run correctly” is followed by the answer that the start is interrupted, the parachute is prepared again and the start is repeated.
Since on a good flying day we are never alone in the air, we can then enjoy flying with other parachutists, with a bit of luck we can sail with birds, gain altitude in thermal ascent and expand our view of the Slovenian Alps. In the air, you can communicate with the pilot completely relaxed, or you can just enjoy the view in silence.
If you wish, the pilot can also take pictures or short videos in the air with a GoPro camera, which he then sends to you by email or delivered in the form of an SD card.
You can also take a photos with your phone, but it is highly recommended to keep your phone tethered. The flight itself and sitting in the seat are very comfortable, your hands are completely free, and the average flight speed is between 15-25 km per hour so it is a slow, calm and relaxing flight with wonderful views. The flight lasts somewhere between 10-30 minutes, which depends on the height of the takeoff we have available for the given conditions and the thermal conditions on the given day.
At the client’s request, for a greater dose of adrenaline, the flight can also be completed with adrenaline acro stunts such as a spiral rotation with the parachute around its axis.
Before landing, another brief instruction follows and we are already on the ground.
